OMRAAM AIVANHOV
The distinguished philosopher and spiritual master OMRAAM MIKHAEL AIVANHOV (1900 – 1986) was born in Bulgaria. In 1937 he moved to France where he gave most of his teaching.The striking aspect of the Master’s teaching is the great variety of ways in which he presented his central theme: humanity's quest for perfection. Whatever the topic under discussion, he invariably delt with it in terms of how we can grow in spiritual maturity and better conduct our lives.
1900 Omraam Mikhaël Aïvanhov was born in January In Serbtzi, Bulgaria
1945 Spring: Foundation of the group of the Universal White Brotherhood in Switzerland. At Christmas first publication of his speeches about "Amour, Sagesse et Vérité" with a preface of Lanza del Vasto
1958 Travel to India, where he stayed for 1 year and met various masters: Neem Karoli Baba, Anandamayi Ma, Swami Shivananda from Rishikesh, Swami Nityananda, Lama Anagarika Govinda, Hanuman Baba, Babajis' pupil, and on 17th June first meeting with Babaji himself From Neem Karoli Baba, he received the name Omraam, already quoted in the Puranas, India's sacred writings. Omraam Mikhael Aivanhov himself related about this name: "The name Omraam, that I was given in India, corresponds to both the processes "solve" and "coagula": OM dissolves everything, it makes them subtler and RAAM materializes them. The name OMRAAM thus is the symbol for the process of materialization, the symbol of the invisible idea that has to incarnate on Earth, so that all the world can see it and come into contact with it" (quoted and translated from "Der Wassermann und das Goldene Zeitalter")
1986 on 25th December, while he was staying at Bonfin, he left this world.
EXCERPT FROM WORKING WITH LIGHT
The light that brings harmony and love. If you want your family to live in harmony, picture your house bathed in light. If you want your friends to be pleased to see you when you go to visit them, concentrate for a few moments before you go into their house, and send some light in ahead of you. Most people go and see their friends when they are depressed, irritable, or worried and want to be cheered up. This is a sure way to lose their friendship! If you want to win people's love, you must realize that the only way is to use light. All other means – money, seduction, or violence – are forbidden. The only means acceptable to heaven (and also the only truly effective means) are to send them gifts of spiritual light, to surround them with light. If you want someone to think of you and love you, therefore, send them light, and when their soul receives these beneficial waves, it will appreciate you more and more and begin to take an interest in you.

EXCERPT FROM BOOK OF MEDITATIONS
"Today, the custom of lighting nightlights
or candles in the house has been lost,
unless the electricity is cut, in which case
people do so in an irritated and grumbling
manner. Whatever the circumstances, lighting
a candle should be considered a sacred act
by which we enter into contact with the four
elements. Yes, the candle itself, which is
solid, represents the earth element. We
light it, and we see fire. Then, gradually,
the candle melts and the liquid wax begins
to fill the hollow at the base of the flame.
As for air, it is all pervasive, because it
is indispensable to fire: deprived of air,
the fire goes out, and even if the air
cannot be seen, its presence can be
perceived in the subtle oscillations of the
flame.
EXCERPT FROM THE TREE OF KNOWLEDGE OF GOOD AND EVIL "The great thing to remember is that what is evil for some can be good for others. If you hold on to this idea it will be a tremendous help. Once you understand that evil is not absolute, that it is relative in fact, it will be much easier for you to put up with it, and you will see that you begin to be unaffected by things that used to make you suffer. You will even feel that heaven has set you free. This has been the experience of so many initiates: they came to realize that all they had lost and all the trials they had endured had simply been the means of their liberation You must adopt this philosophy, otherwise, when you should be singing canticles of praise and thanksgiving to the lord, you will always find some excuse to be miserable."
